So, I’ve been good friends with this human for about 15 years. We’ll call him Jon Desrosiers. If you haven’t met him yet, definitely give him a shout. He’s been dedicating a significant amount of his time to advancing open source through the WordPress project. Whether speaking, smashing bugs, or leading releases of WordPress itself, he embodies the idea of giving back to the community that he loves.
A few days ago, Jon announced that he would be uploading a photo to the open source WordPress Photo Directory every day for the next year. For new year resolutions, most people focus on themselves, but I thought that this was an outstanding idea and just another great way to contribute back to WordPress.
So, in a light-hearted wager, I promised to match Jon’s contributions 1:1. Jeffrey Paul also agreed to contribute photos as well.
At the time of this writing, the WordPress Photo Directory has 12,644 photos submitted. And by this time next year, if all goes according to plan, an additional 1,098 photos will have been added by 3 people.
